launch of first Westport Festival of Chamber Music, 6-8 September 2013

A new festival of chamber music is being established in Westport, Co. Mayo, under the artistic direction of Hugh Tinney and Catherine Leonard.  Concerts will be presented in Westport House and Holy Trinity Church, both wonderful settings for chamber music.  The festival will take place over the first week-end of this September, from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th.

Hugh and Catherine have invited their first guests, the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet, to join them in performing works by Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and others, for duo, trio, quartet and quintet.  The innovative guitarist Redmond O'Toole is another guest performer; he will also give a workshop to Music Generation students.  The Festival will also feature a young "rising star" violinist in recital.
